We won’t let a couple of minor timing glitches stop us from getting our podium photos.  Using the very latest in GPS technology we rigged up an interview and virtual podium with fastest male and female from this year’s Forfar Funduro, Joe Barnowl and Isla Shortbread.

Muckmedden versus Canyon Factory Enduro Team’s Joe Barn-Owl

Muckmedden: “So Joe, what did you think of Forfar Funduro?”

JB:  “Like, it’s like, the best like, Muckin’ race I ever has done in my whole entire puff.”

Muckmedden: “What do you think of your bespoke, one-off handmade trophy which was allegedly hand-carved from Balmashanner slate?”

JB: “I love it more than life itself.  It will take proud of plaice on my solid ivory mantelpiece in the greenhouse.”

Muckmedden: “Congratulations on an emphatic victory Joe and thanks for your time.  See you soon.”

JB: “Whatever.”

Muckmedden versus OMX Pro rider Isla Shortbread

Muckmedden: “Congratulations on (virtually) lifting the fastest female overall trophy Isla, you absolutely nailed it! How do you do it?”

Isla Shortbread: “I just go faster than everyone else.  It seems to work pretty well.  If I go slower than other people I don’t tend to win”

Muckmedden: “It’s a great life lesson that we can all learn from.  Anyhoo, what was you favourite part of Forfar Funduro?”

Isla Shortbread: “Let me think.  The trails were absolutely amazing, the amazing atmosphere was amazing and the course Marshals were simply the amazing-est Marshals I’ve ever encountered. But for me, the best bit was the graffiti in the bandstand.  So thought provoking.”

So there you have it.  Wise words from the two riders who could quite possibly be the last (and therefore forever undefeated) champions of Forfar Funduro.  What a couple of pinners!

On a slightly more serious note, sincere apologies to everyone who shredded their socks off on Saturday and hung around in the queue only to miss their special moment on the podium.  You can believe me when I say we were as disappointed as you to have to cancel the podium ceremony after having such an awesome day on the hill.  A bit of a damp squib but we just have to make light of a situation that’s out of our control.

If you managed to bag a podium spot well done you!  We’ll be in touch asap to sort out how to get your trophies, medals and/or prizes to you.

Cheers again Muckers, onwards and upwards to Fair City Enduro on Oct 21st, get planning that fancy dress!
