If you were at Cream o’ the Croft this year, you might have noticed our rather spiffing new Tartan Muckmedden podium backdrop.  Pure dead profeshional eh?  You can blame our fab new Muckin’ Sponsors The Cycle Jersey for that.

If you came to an early Muckmedden event and got a podium place, we didn’t actually have a podium for your moment of glory, you probably stood on either; a grass verge, a straw bale or even a sleeping child if that’s all we had to hand at the time.  For your podium backdrop you could have a choice of either; the rear-view of some sweaty rider changing his shorts, a small dog hunched over doing what dogs do, or a toddler poking a hunched-over dog with a stick as the dog does what dogs do.  Ahh, halcyon days.

But then the rot set in.

It all started when Kev, top Mucker and all-round Mr Fix-It, decided to hand-build and custom-paint a rather sharp-looking Muckmedden podium for Cream o’ the Croft 2015.  It looked the business and added an air of professionalism never before seen at a Muckmedden event.  “Careful Kev, we don’t know what we’re getting into here….”

Then we got chatting to the infectiously enthusiastic people at The Cycle Jersey earlier this year.  In case you don’t know, they don’t just do riding tops, in fact they do everything!  They would even brand your granny’s zimmer if you wanted.

Anyway, they started wearing us down with bombshells like; “We could add an air of professionalism to your events quite inexpensively with some of our branded items.  How about a bespoke podium backdrop and some die-cut, Enduro number boards that would look unbelievable and wouldn’t dissolve at the sight of rain?”  In a confused and vulnerable state, we said “Aw aye, that sounds amazing TCJ!”

Meanwhile, back at our secret hideaway, one of our other main Muckers, George had just designed some cool wee roundels using the tartan design from our race jerseys.  The roundels were initially meant as event stickers but would also look a bit awesome as a podium backdrop too.  Nice one George!

And the rest is history.

Hopefully you’ll agree it made a difference to the overall aesthetics and quality of the event, plus your swanky number board is probably still in one piece and that’s all thanks to the great people of The Cycle Jersey.

We’re delighted to have this fantastic, forward-looking Scottish company on board as a Muckin’ Sponsor.  Thanks guys!
