It’s hard to imagine any Muckmedden event without some of Scotland’s most world-changing inventions;  the pedal bicycle, the pneumatic tyre and now….The McEwan’s Beer Company.

Pop quiz Hot Shot…..

  • How many Scottish beers have a 70’s funk tune named after them?
  • Answer: One (hopefully there aren’t any more than that or that would spoil this whole thing)

As if you didn’t already know, McEwan’s are undoubtedly Scotland’s most iconic beer makers, but did you know that 70’s Scottish funksters The Average White Band actually called one of their tracks McEwan’s Export?  (Click here if you don’t believe me)

We’re delighted to welcome one of Scotland’s most well-known brands on board as a Muckin’ Sponsor this year, so here’s a quick history lesson of how the company started and why 160 years later, they are still going strong.

About McEwan’s Beer Company

Experience and consistency are what have made McEwan’s one of Scotland’s best loved brewers for the past 160 years. Starting small, our founder William McEwan knew that to craft good beer you needed much more than the best ingredients, you needed a passion that made your beer stand out from the rest.

As McEwan’s Beer Company celebrates its 160th year of brewing excellent, high quality beer, we still use this knowledge to continue brewing Scotland’s best loved ales and create some new ones too, that are satisfying the ever changing tastes of Scotland’s beer lovers, while remaining true to our brewing heritage. William McEwan would be proud.

A birthday is not a celebration without friends, and we want to celebrate with the people across Scotland who have helped make McEwan’s what it is today. At this year’s Cream O’ The Croft come down to our trade stand in the Velo Village and enjoy a tipple with our team. Our core range is a staple in the beer aisle and our latest product McEwan’s IPA is guaranteed to leave you refreshed after a hard day of riding the trails and (hopefully) catching some rays.
